The Capitals are committed to assisting female student athletes ages 11 through 16 in improving their individual basketball skills by providing knowledgeable coaching along with the opportunity to play with and against the highest level of competition. An equally important goal of the club is to develop character, teamwork, and sportsmanship in an enjoyable basketball environment. Players also develop new friendships established through the travel and competitive experience. The Albany Capitals also provide those girls who wish to pursue basketball in college the opportunity to demonstrate their basketball abilities at AAU tournaments attended by college coaches and recruiters. In this regard, the Capitals participate in tournaments in an eleven state region consisting of New England and the Middle Atlantic States as well as in National AAU tournaments.
This summer, Skidmore College selected Michigan State assistant women's basketball coach Darren Bennett to head the Thoroughbred women's program. Bennett served one season as MSU recruiting coordinator, working to land the 18th ranked recruiting class as ranked by All-Star Girls Report. The Spartans were an NCAA tournament team last season.

The American Eagles Girls Basketball Club, Cohoes, New York, has completed its fifteenth season, the fourteenth under the auspices of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), and we are member of the Eastern Girls Basketball Association. It has been very gratifying to watch the girls grow athletically, physically and socially over the years. The knowledge, skills and abilities of each girl have been enhanced by the club's program. The degree of that enhancement is determined by the amount of commitment of each individual girl.
